What is Social Media? Merriam-Webster defines it as: ‘Forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages and other content (as videos).'
First things first - Start by obtaining Facebook and Twitter accounts and then build your profile to let people know what you do as a company.
Secondly, you'll want to friend/follow different organizations, employers, co-workers, friends, competition and, yes, even your enemies. And to go further, you also want to look at who they follow or have friended and proceed to follow them as well.
This is how you grow your “audience.”
Let's start posting. Posting is a key aspect to reaching out to your friends and your friends' friends and so on. And remember, maintaining your page is important to successfully using your social media outlets.
With your Twitter account, you want to make sure you “tweet,” “favorite” and “retweet” multiple times during any given day; the more you tweet, the more your page and your company will be noticed.
Cross-referencing is important, too. Put your Tweet on your Facebook account and vice versa.
With that, you will be building a successful network which allows you to get more information out there and to more people, thus growing your page and business.
In the end, is there such a thing as too much social networking? Heck no! The information will overlay, but in different formats and those receiving that information will view it differently from each site.
And you don't have to stop there. There is blogging, email, Instagram, Google+ and more.
The World Wide Web (WWW) is endless - Share the Wealth!
